What’s new in the Nomad World?
I could write for hours about the comings and goings of the current and past crop of Nomads and I am sure it would keep you all amused and stuck to the toilet seat (the best reading room in the house) for hours on end. But to be perfectly honest I can’t be bothered so here are a few “gems” to keep you going until someone gives me some news worth writing about:
Me and Hully bought digital cameras. Now this may not mean much too most of you but to Hully and myself it means an awful lot, especially as they have remote controls on them and they look flash.
A group of us went to the recent end of season presentation night in Welwyn, where the nomads won the tight as a ducks arse bowling award or something. The night was full of fun and frolic with everybody making a point of coming up to the Nomad table and telling us how great we were. The love in the room was there for all to see. The whole of the Offley/Stopsley team asked Hully to join them next season and as an incentive offered to make him Captain and life president, they love us and him that much. Quite obviously Hully was tempted but after much soul searching he decided that he would stay with the Nomads citing that He would miss the dog shit on the pitch too much if he left.
Nothing much else has happened in recent months that warrants anymore than bullet points so here are a few bullets involving the boys and girls from the Nomad family
· Shane went fishing (again)
· Gari Reed delivered some letters
· Adam did some adding up
· Andy sang some songs and sold some stuff
· Shane went fishing ( yet again)
· Andy and Graham went fishing (not with Shane)
· Gari delivered another letter – but this time with a hangover
· Steve Bruno did the new improved nomad web site – big up for Stevo
· And once again Shane went fishing
Quite obviously the answer to that is a resounding NO
Shane Jones – A fisherman’s tale
If you were in the Navy it would be illegal to land a skate (not the wheeled shoe, but the fish). Apparently when they are pulled out of the water they blow up and the mouth region resembles a ladies genitals. So next time Shane tells you he went to Portsmouth for a “fishing session” smile knowingly at him and ask him if the earth moved.
The 2004 season in one Paragraph
We started in May batted a bit bowled a bit dropped a few catches. Won a few games lost a few, ate some tea, drank some beer, Got cold, got hot, got wet, got burnt, got sweaty got dirty, got showered, got injured, got drunk and finished in September.
The end!
The 2004 end of season party – a review of events before they happen.
Nobody danced to the disco
One or two people got drunk far too early
We all ate chips
Some people got an award
Some didn’t
Some of us went to Chicago’s afterwards
Some didn’t
Someone got absolutely spannered (????)
Shane shouted. Na Na Na at least ½ a dozen times
Mark my words this will happen
Bowling / Batting
In general it was about average
Catching / fielding
All in all well below average
Individually
Everyone was average except those that were below average or above average and in comparison to other teams the number of average people was about average.
The teas were above average for home games and below average for away games except for one team who didn’t even register an average.
I can happily report however that the Nomads collectively are without a doubt above average when it comes to beer consumption
As you can see I had nothing to write about. This is where you come in. please send me anything you want for the Nomad news.
I promise that if it is legal I will publish anything that you give me !!!
